Beef Stew with Dumplings

This recipe can be done ahead and/or frozen

Ingredients:

1# Chuck or Round Steak cut into 1 inch cubes
2 cups hot water
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce 1/2 clove garlic minced
1/2 onion medium sliced
1 bay leaf
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
3 carrots halved
4 small onions
1 - 2 potatoes quartered

dumplings = 1/2 cup bisquick, 3 Tbs milk

Cooking time about 2 1/2 hours, active time about 1/2 hour

- Brown Meat thoroughly on all sides in a heavy 3 qt sauce pan.
- Add all ingredients, except veggies and the dumplings.
- Cover tightly, simmer on a low temperature until tender (about 2 hours).
- Add vegetables cook 10 minutes.
- Make the dumpling batter by combining the bisquick and the 3 Tbs of milk.
- Add dumplings to bubbling stew.
- Cook for 10 minutes uncovered.
- Cook for 10 minutes covered.
